Oakley Court Hotel
Situated by the River Thames in Windsor, the Oakley Court Hotel is a charming piece of British history. Now, Soho House is fully refurbishing this Grade II listed gem, and we’re right at the heart of it, designing the Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) services for the project.
Working on a historic property like the Oakley Court Hotel (to be renamed Soho River House) comes with its own set of challenges. The design team have been tasked with modernising the hotel in line with the recognisable Soho House brand standards, while respecting the property’s heritage. That means we’ve had to carefully assess the current services installed to identify and validate the existing services, aiming to preserve and retain where possible before introducing new services and systems, all while preserving the site’s character. Our focus isn’t just on the aesthetics; it’s about efficiency too. We’re updating everything from heating and ventilation to lighting and audiovisual setups, to give guests a first-class experience. At every step of the design process, we are conscious of our continued commitment to sustainability and comfort.
Collaboration is the key to our success. We’re working closely with architects, interior designers, and landscape architects to make sure our plans fit seamlessly with the overall vision for the hotel. It’s a team effort, with everyone bringing their industry expertise to the project.
Our responsibility at Soho River House is not just about design; it’s about understanding the balance of considerately preserving history, while embracing a new era of luxury and comfort. We’re proud to be part of this journey, and we’re excited to see the hotel’s transformation unfold.
